The Ruby Bridges Story by Kayla Kirkland-Johnson

The Ruby Bridges story was very inspiring. I knew her story but I never understood the extent of it all. If you ask me, her story does beyond racism. She was bullied by adults and children everyday for almost a whole school year. Verbal abuse is just as serious as physical abuse. She was traumatized by those people’s words and it made her temporarily view herself and her race negatively. Even as a little girl she was a teacher, student, activist and most importantly a hero. She taught us that bravery is key to success. She learned that sometimes people can be cruel and words can affect you; but never let them scare you. She taught me the same lessons.
